Introduction
Steam Turbines convert the thermal energy of the steam to mechanical energy of the rotor. They perform the energy conversion in two steps: Thermal energy of the steam to kinetic energy of the steam in nozzles and Kinetic energy of the steam to mechanical energy on the rotor blades. Efficient maintenance and operation of the steam turbine are primary considerations in  fuel utilization and power generation.
The present course is designed for engineers and experienced technical staff involved in operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of Steam Turbines to improve their understanding of the subject. The course offers the basic steam generation theory, types and design of Steam Turbines, testing and operation of Steam Turbines and maintenance and trouble shooting of Steam Turbines.
Course Topics:
- Steam generation Basics
- Steam power plant components
- Steam turbine types and construction
- Turbine blades
- Bearings and lubricating system
- Control and Governing of steam turbines
- Testing of steam turbines
- Operation and maintenance of Steam Turbines
- Trouble shooting and repair of steam turbines
Who should attend the course?
This course is designed for mechanical and electrical engineers and experienced technical staff involved in the operation, control and maintenance of Steam Turbines. The course should also benefit engineers who are involved in the design of power plants in utilities and industry and would like to improve their understanding of the subject.
