Course Background:

This course is designed to provide participants with the basic skills and knowledge to enable them to perform their duties to a high standard when carrying out risk assessments.

Course Objectives

Under Health and Safety legislation the main requirement for employers is to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments. Indeed, risk assessments program is the primary starting point for establishing as safer working environment and building a successful and sustainable safety culture organization/company. This course is very essential not only for the company who want to comply with the legislation but for the companies that are striving to be more successful through developing, implement and maintaining the Occupation health and Safety Management system which foster to achieve zero harm workplace.

This course is conducted for 5 day – 20 hours. At the end of the course the candidate will be given a test to evaluate their competency in the knowledge and skill gained from the learning outcomes

  • Understand the difference types of risk assessments. (Baseline Risk Assessment, Issue Based Risk Assessment & JHA (Job Safety Assessment).
  • Hazard identification techniques (Structured what if SWIF).
  • The six types of hazards at any workplace.
  • The hierarchy of Hazard Controls.
  • The five steps of risk assessment

On completion of the course the candidate will:

  • Have a decision making tool to help him/her to protect his/her own safety and safety of others by effectively identify and control workplace hazards.
  • Have the ability to contribute both in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Understand the legal requirements for hazard identification, reporting and control.
  • Understand the principles of risk assessment and risk management at the workplace
