COURSE NAME: HEAT EXCHANGERS, DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE& OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

Course description

This course teaches:

  1. The function of heat exchangers in the plant
  2. Classification of heat exchangers and the working principle of each type
  3. The factors which affect the efficiency of heat exchangers
  4. The design of heat exchangers and the selection of heat exchangers
  5. The operational and maintenance problems encountered (related) to heat exchangers and condensers
  6. The heat exchanger inspection and maintenance

The course begins with a review of heat transfer fundamentals. It continues with a look at four main types of heat exchangers that are used in the industry:

  1. The Double Pipe Heat Exchanger,
  2. The Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger,
  3. The Plate and Frame Heat Exchanger, and
  4. The Cross Flow Heat Exchanger.

Course goal

Teaches the participants different types of heat exchangers, the application of each type and how can they select, operate and maintain heat exchangers.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe different types of heat exchangers
  2. Explain the factors which do affect the selection of heat exchanger
  3. Describe the common operational and maintenance problems
